Not often a client likes a piece of work so much that they immediately tell you to do a sequel. But our beautiful client did exactly that, turning our 'Bring the Family' film into a 2-part series. (Trivia: if you look closely at the 2nd film, Yas Acres, The Dahlias, at around 1:06, you'll see this bald creative pulling a bit of a cameo.)

A lot of celebration was made about women finally being allowed to drive in KSA. However, much of it overlooked one of the largest obstacles: Saudi men. So we set out to turn these critics into advocates, with a film that can be watched here:

Citibank
Online Content Film
A radio-ad-like approach to film—a lot of information, sweetened by a little humour. This kind of fast, cheap video content is a great tool for agencies to have. And its disposability means clients are willing to step out of their comfort zones.

All banks help you save money. Citibank wanted to stand out as the first bank to help save what matters most: time with loved ones.
Not a super relevant image. But it took a long time to draw, and I wanted a home for it.
Butcher Shop & Grill Radio
Even the worst night is made right with a great steak. This campaign takes listeners to hell and back in 15 seconds, ending with the juicy silver lining. (I made these before I stopped eating meat, so nowadays they'd be a little hypocritical. But they still make me laugh.)

A craft-focused piece for the iconic Land Rover Defender that won a shortlist at Cannes.

A 3D poster campaign created completely in 2D. These were printed on large-format card and folded into shapes that mimicked acrobatic maneuvers, picking up a Silver Lion for Outdoor at Cannes.

These films had the audacity to win a Bronze Lynx and National Diploma at Cannes, despite being made for practically no money whatsoever. Based on the premise that even the worst films are watchable, when you have American Garden Microwave Popcorn beside you.

I should probably take this out of my portfolio. It's old, cheap and burdened by hardsell promotion, but...
I still love it, because it managed to have fun with all the constraint. So here it stays.

Nando s Radio

These were a lot of fun to write—and perform, as my art director and I found that the best way to get the talent into the right headspace was to be the 'talent'.
Another brief that had a lot of hard work to do, and only 30 seconds in which to do it. But I love that it still ended up with a well-executed idea.

WHO IS THIS GUY?

Who is this guy?
Well, it's a
complicated
story...
I was born to Zimbabweans in Canada, raised in South Africa, then moved to Dubai on an Irish passport and got married to an Egyptian. I don't know what my accent is.

Also...
I'm constantly distracted by all forms of creativity. Married to writing, dating design, enjoying frequent affairs with bad-music making, more than friends with photography, making eyes at illustration, and increasingly flirting with film. I used to feel bad about this lack of focus, but lately I try to embrace the distraction.
